Tri-level Framework for Realistic Estimation of Concrete Strength Using Bayesian Data Fusion of UPV and Guided Coring

Identification of in situ concrete characteristic strength (CCS) deteriorating RC structures directly affects their rehabilitation. Contemporary practices lack the ability to yield CCS or at most produce an unrealistic estimate, because: (i) core tests are few due technical and economic constraints positioning is random, inducing bias (ii) non-destructive (NDT) themselves not good estimators project specific strength, (iii) only local indicators practising engineers unaware how process spatial variability. This paper overcomes these limitations with a novel implementable framework, for asset manager make scientific estimates CCS. tri-level framework: (1) NDT performed capture variability investigated concrete; (2) extractions guided by prior information, avoid test location selection; (3) coring results fused via Bayesian calibration updating probability distribution strength. The proposed framework successfully implemented assessment rehabilitation critical hospital complex India.
